Hiring Organization: Hyde Square Task Force
Position Status: Full Time
Rate of Pay $40,000/year
Reports to: YOUNG Advisors at weekly meetings
Location: Boston, MA
Job Overview:
The YOUNG Coalition Coordinator is a key position that manages the operations of Youth Organizers United for the Now Generation (YOUNG). YOUNG is a unique collaboration that is youth centered and focuses on educational justice. The four major responsibilities of the YOUNG Coalition Coordinator are:
- Manage YOUNG’s internal and external communication with YOUNG Organizers.
- Supporting a youth-led organizing strategy
- Provide direction to ensure success of YOUNG’s campaigns including research and policy development
- Coordinate key activities that support YOUNG’s sustainability by working closely with the Funders Working Group, Annenberg Institute and other strategic relationships partners .
Job Specifics:
1. Manage YOUNG’s internal and external communications
- Facilitate YOUNG organizers to support YOUNG leaders
- Coordinate with YOUNG organizers to provide opportunities for YOUNG leaders
- Develop important YOUNG documentation
- Maintain and practice ongoing and productive communication with YOUNG’s leaders, advisors, organizers, organizations and key partners
- Provide direction and coherence to advisors’ meetings
2. Supporting a youth-led organizing strategy
- Assist in development of YOUNG policy position and campaign management
- Coordinating logistics of YOUNG events, gatherings, forums and actions
- Coordinate preparation, planning and implementation of YOUNG regular meeting/retreat planning and implementation
- Be physically present at individual organizational sites at least 6 hours a week
3. Provide direction to ensure success of YOUNG’s campaigns and policy platform
- Ensure YOUNG’s ability to lead external meetings/actions/forums
- Understand and can share research related to YOUNG issues locally, regionally and nationally
- Design and facilitate workshops to help define and develop campaigns and platforms
- Develop relationships with mainstream and community-based media outlets to gain visibility for YOUNG work
4. Coordinating the key activities that support YOUNG’s sustainability by working closely with the Funders Working Group, Annenberg Institute and other strategic relationships partners.
- Manage YOUNG annual budget and fundraising goals
- Identify key relationships with funders, researchers and other important stakeholders
- Coordinate the coalition budget and fundraising goals
- Prepare and write grant proposals and grant reports as part of a grant writing team
Job Qualifications:
- at least five years of experience working with teenage youth (13 and older) in youth leadership, activism, youth organizing, advocacy and/or a related field;
- experience with boards, youth-led groups and coalition work
- experience in fundraising and grant writing
- is skilled planner, multi-tasking, organizing while maintaining energy and focus
- dependable and personable
- ability to develop press releases, informational flyers, and other documents
- facility with Word and Excel or other word processing and spreadsheet software
Compensation:
- The YOUNG Coalition Organizer/Coordinator is a full-time position that will be compensated $40,000/year

- YOUNG Coalition Organizer/Coordinator will be a full-time employee of the Hyde Square Task Force (which serves as fiscal manager for YOUNG).
