The Schott Foundation for Public Education

Anthony Simmons

Program Manager, Black Male Donor Collaborative

Anthony has been involved in the Black Male Donor Collaborative at The Schott Foundation for Public Education since the Collaborative’s founding in 2008.  Currently, he manages the overall logistical and administrative operations of this innovative initiative.  He also has been invited to speak around the country on its behalf.

In addition to his responsibilities at the foundation, Anthony is a member of the advisory board of the Brooklyn 4 Brooklyn Initiative (B4B): a pilot initiative began by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), in collaboration with the Vera Institute for Justice.  As a member of the advisory board, Anthony is working with national experts to develop a new, regional model for juvenile justice.  This new model will focus on the treatment, growth, and positive development of youth in custody, rather than their institutionalization and punishment.

Anthony is also a member of New York Blacks in Philanthropy, a local membership based organization of Black professionals, particularly representing people of the African Diaspora, including African-Americans, African natives, Afro-Latinos, Caribbean natives and Caribbean-Americans, committed to strengthening networks, addressing collective challenges and fostering opportunities within the philanthropic sector.  He currently serves on the organization’s Executive Committee.

Anthony, who is a native New Yorker, attended Trinity and Brooklyn colleges.  He has several years experience in social services and youth development in the City.
