Nakisha M. Lewis
Program Coordinator

Nakisha M. Lewis joined The Schott Foundation for Public Education in September 2008. As the Program Coordinator, Ms. Lewis is responsible for providing general grantmaking support to program staff, screening proposals, and assisting with support of grantees and grant seekers. Ms. Lewis previously served as the Coordinator of Adolescent Programs at the Family Planning Council in Philadelphia. She also served as a member of the School District of Philadelphia’s Sexuality and Health Materials Review Committee.
 
In her position at the Council, she oversaw a number of community-based reproductive health education programs including Man2Man and the Teen Peer Education program.
 
While in Philadelphia, Ms. Lewis devoted several years to working with and on behalf of underserved public middle and high school students. She worked as a classroom assistant, a summer school teacher, an after-school program coordinator and was a member of Philadelphia’s College-Prep Roundtable.
 
Ms. Lewis attended Drexel University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Anthropology. She is a native of Boston and an alumna of the Newton METCO program.
