The Schott Foundation Promotes Marcela Castrillón Vélez to Executive Operations Manager

Cambridge, MA, Nov. 27, 2007 -- The Schott Foundation for Public Education announces the promotion of Marcela Castrillón Vélez to Executive Operations Manager.

As Executive Operations Manager, Ms. Castrillón Vélez will manage the Foundation’s Administrative, Information Technology, and Staff Recruitment and Training functions. Ms. Castrillón Vélez is also responsible for managing the Office of the President and CEO and Board of Director relations.

“Marcela has demonstrated tremendous abilities and leadership during the past six years at Schott, and her new responsibilities will allow The Schott Foundation to better maximize and benefit from all of her excellent skills and experience,” said Dr. John H. Jackson, president and CEO of The Schott Foundation.

For the past six years, Ms. Castrillón Vélez served as the Executive Assistant to the Schott Foundation President. Prior to joining Schott, she served for three years as an Administrative Assistant at the Boston Higher Education Partnership, which is part of The Education Resources Institute.  She has also worked as an Executive Secretary at the Multicultural Center at Bentley College for two years.  And she worked as an Office Assistant at the Massachusetts Pre-Engineering Program.  Ms. Castrillón Vélez earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from Lesley College in 1994.
